THE TILES
project
In 2024, I got to know Lisbon. Since then, I've been enchanted by the countless colorful tiles and patterns I observed while walking every street and taking every step, as tourists often do.
Now, as a resident of the city, I've been able to catalog my photographs. Through them, I've re-signified each shape and texture, creating a new story within my own perspective and work research.
Just as tattoos tell stories on our bodies, what better way to honor Lisbon during your visit than by putting it on your skin, don't you think?

Igor van der Laan
has been a tattoo artist since 2017...
Since childhood, he showed a natural passion and talent for drawing, which he refined over the years through practice and courses.
He began his career in 2017 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, his hometown. In 2019, he moved to São Paulo, where he established his clientele and made his mark in the tattoo scene.
Today, he's based in Lisbon, Portugal, at The Vênus Room studio, but he also tattoos in various countries and studios across Europe.
Specializing in micro-realism, fine line, and whip shading, he builds his compositions from fantastical and surrealist contexts—blending galactic themes with Renaissance classical art, creating lightness and contrast in his work.
